Kim Ji-Won

kimjiwonKim Ji-won Hangul김지원 is a South Korean actress. She played her first lead role in the film Romantic Heaven (2011)[2][3] and appeared in the television series To the Beautiful You (2012),[4] The Heirs (2013)[5] and Descendants of the Sun (2016).

Kim first entered the entertainment industry in 2008 by taking on minor roles in television dramas and appearing in commercials.[6][7][8][9] She then starred in the omnibus film Romantic Heaven. In 2010, Kim was cast in her first leading role in Song Ji-na‘s drama What’s Up[10] which aired in 2011.

Kim rose to fame after starring in the 2011 sitcom High Kick: Revenge of the Short Legged. This was followed up with appearances in To the Beautiful You, based on the famous Japanese shojo manga series Hanazakari no Kimitachie and omnibus horror film Horror Stories .

In 2013, Kim was cast in high-profile trendy drama, The Heirs, in which she played a chic and haughty heiress. The Heirs enjoyed immense popularity both locally, with a peak rating of 28.6%,[11] and internationally, having over one billion hits on the Chinese streaming website iQiyi.[12] This raised Kim’s profile and she won the New Star award from theSBS Drama Awards.

In December 2014, Kim signed with another management agency, King Kong Entertainment.[13] She then appeared alongside So Ji-sub in web drama One Sunny Day.

In 2016, Kim starred in KBS‘s hit drama Descendants of the Sun, playing an army surgeon. Written by hitmaker screenwriter Kim Eun-sook, the series was filmed overseas in Greece and entirely pre-produced before it was broadcast.[14][15] The drama became incredibly popular with the audience, establishing stellar ratings throughout its run and recording a 38.8% viewership rating nationwide and 41.6% in the capital area for its final episode, according to Nielsen Korea.[16][17] As a result, Kim experienced a rise in popularity.\
